Star Citizen: A Spacefaring Odyssey, or Just a Big Empty Void?
Source: deltiasgaming.com
Hey everyone! Been spending tons of time zooming through the cosmos in Star Citizen. Honestly, it's pretty epic, right? Or is it? Let's dive in and find out.
The Allure of the Infinite
Star Citizen pulls you into its massive digital universe, a vast ocean of possibilities (that's a LOT of ships to pick!). From tiny freighters to behemoth capital ships, your choices are endless. You are really the pilot.
Choosing Your Starfaring Destiny
-
Choose your adventure. Explorer? Trader? Warrior? It's up to you! (Lots of roles to play!).
-
Get a starter ship. Start exploring.
-
A vast space! Lots to discover and do (or so many things you can't do at all yet…sad).
Building Your Fleet
This game has, like, tons of ships!
Crucial Considerations: Ship Variety
Ship Type | Focus | Pros | Cons |
---|---|---|---|
Combat | Intense fights | Awesome combat | Not so good cargo |
Cargo | Trade stuff | Great trader | Not strong in battle |
Utility | Multi-tasking | Useful | Maybe a bit average |
Corvette | Medium-size | Nice combo | Very very few people to actually use them |
Flier | Exploration, Scouting | Cool view! | Small |
Question: Which one best fits your spacefaring dreams?
The Dance of Dogfight Glory
Okay, so this game does have some really awesome dogfights (and it sounds awesome)
What truly distinguishes the combat is its realism (although the experience was not always the smoothest at times for a human).
Pilot Skill Makes a Big Difference
- Learning controls is really crucial! You need practice!
- Learning how to shoot targets is KEY. It took a lot of my time to be able to properly target people in space (I am not really very skilled in this department yet…more like 3.3/10 on this area…).
- Finding out the most efficient ways to fight people and to plan fights really takes time to figure out!

Technical Nuances
- Shields and armor take the action seriously, making fighting cool
- Weaponry is quite diverse, letting you pick styles and focus
- Learning the tactics (some of this needs practice!) of flying your ship matters a lot in battles!

Questions for combat veterans: What are your preferred tactical setups and best approaches? And how can this community improve even further (they have an amazing community for players!)
The Horizon of Exploration (Is it still there?!)
Besides ships, exploration also forms a pretty key role of Star Citizen (and also it takes up more space compared to the others!), but I didn't discover much about that on my limited journeys in this game (so sad, this would require a very huge investment in time!).
What About Exploration
Exploration is supposed to be great and has been talked about like being like no other (very cool sounding) (they haven't done it yet though), but what exactly do you need for these expeditions? Do you need a different skill set for doing this, or maybe your space explorer hat? (what the heck is that?!)
A World Apart
Star Citizen stands in a weird and unique place. It has, what seems like, a ton to offer, but right now it mostly is great potential (in terms of experience)
A Lot to Like
-
The vast, visually stunning universe (Wow! so gorgeous!)
-
Diverse spacecraft (A variety like never before!).
-
Engaging community. Lots of discussion about it! Very amazing forums that get amazing feedbacks (really cool!)

Unmet Promises
-
Graphics seem somewhat lagging in comparison to how cool it looked originally (still cool!).
-
A bit of a slow build (more like a very, very, slow and huge build!).
-
Some frustrating aspects need some fine tuning!
Personal Note: I personally hope this game evolves into what it could truly be!

Star Citizen's Legacy
Will it become a spacefaring epic like the books and films it aims to emulate (they sure are trying hard)? Only time (and perhaps a little more money?) will tell.
Final Thoughts: Overall, Star Citizen, to me (because it's about my experience, you know?), offers a compelling vision, even if the road is quite long to fully accomplish. Do give it a shot, although it needs quite a bit of time. It's worth exploring the vastness of the galaxy and living through your space dreams.
