Star Citizen NPCs: More Than Just Pretty Faces?
Star Citizen NPCs, (those non-player characters), man, they are captivating. You're staring at them, not just avatars, you see people!
The Look of the NPCs
- Sleek, and futuristic-styled (or even casual).
- Some look like, they got real emotions. (I mean, come on).
- You'll be impressed! (trust me).
Visual Variety, an Example
<table>
NPC Behaviors, (Like a Show!)
- Talking! NPCs chat!
- They act and respond! That's what is really special about these!
- Some respond better than others; but you know…
Some Reactions in Action
Positive: They respond with smiles; seem pleased! Sometimes, happy or angry! They know how to react!
Neutral: Some are polite, a bit dull, sometimes it feels like nothing much! I feel sometimes there isn't too much life! (A bit like talking to robots or someone in a video game… you don't really get the point)
Negative: Sometimes their attitudes and reactions…not that believable or real! (It's just game behavior, and we gotta look beyond)
Voice Acting and Emotions: The Voice and its Delivery
Source: starcitizenprivateer.com
- Most of them sound like… real humans! Some voice actors are superb! I am happy for that.
- The vocal range, from excitement and shock! But also sad faces; and fear! That's real emotions! (This feels…realistic)
- It shows that the NPCs care, when they want to express or respond emotionally! This makes these NPCs so cool!
What I Like? (And other players, apparently)
People who reviewed say these NPC's responses give this sense of reality! A player reviewer mentioned; the best examples seem real like real characters in their own unique way and manner!
Engaging Experiences, like Talking to an NPC
Source: redd.it
- Conversation feels dynamic! (Not robotic at all).
- Their stories get captivating! You see real drama in this story telling in many aspects!
Situations Example: Shopping Encounter, What did I see
A character at a shop I liked; (the one I am really impressed!) I told the seller that he's wearing cool cloths! I did get this reply: "Thanks man! I always like how other people style them!" Man, (It makes me laugh). They didn't ignore my presence and really acknowledged my effort; the experience felt amazing and believable, you feel more than like a viewer. I have more feeling.
Questions and Doubts.

- Are these NPC reactions believable?
- Sometimes there seems not a full depth in them! (Their reaction doesn't quite align with situations or conversations, as the world does)
- Do all NPC behaviors, have so much logic?
Player Discussions, Some Criticism?
Some reviews are not super satisfied…like a part feels a bit flat or robotic! Players talked about a bit repetitive interactions from time to time.

The Future of NPCs, How do you See it?
- More intricate story and interactions with the player (It would give you more options).
- NPCs to fit within a universe better. More unique features in character design, I am happy for that.
- Making it clear, NPCs, aren't just simple NPCs but personalities!
Where do you want to see NPCS improve!
Possible Directions:
- Complexer personal traits and feelings.
- Dynamic responses based on players' actions or history; how did it affect that NPC; how did it make them act? How did their character get affected. This is important.
- More diverse voices! Make NPC sounds realistic and add variety; get different moods that are easy to notice.

Final Thoughts
Star Citizen NPCs are an example for how important it is for players and characters to feel involved and real and present and to feel that the other part; a player character, notices! The future is bright.
