Diving Deep into the Star Citizen Cutlass Black: A Personal Review
Source: redd.it
"A ship is more than just metal and wires. It's a feeling, a dream, a part of you." – This quote (or maybe something like that) truly hits home when we talk about the Cutlass Black. I'm diving deep into it, going for a spin, exploring it as if I was there with you, you know?
Introduction: More Than Just a Spaceship
Star Citizen, a massive ongoing game, is all about these vehicles (space ships?). Each ship seems to have its personality, some are big, some are little (some have been made more, some are in need of updates) The Cutlass Black sits squarely in the middle, with options for play (and probably upgrades?). It's a good starter ship or for when someone (or team of players) has a need for more options/upgrades for battles. It is well-equipped for what people want in a good combat vessel. I'm here today (yesterday?), to give my two-cents (which could be more in this particular area) about the Cutlass.

The Exterior: First Impressions
Imagine, soaring through the void (or sky/mountains), you can really see this spaceship shine. The shape isn't overwhelmingly "flashy." (Not the most elegant shape in existence), but still, attractive. It has that serious business (war/peace or all the in-betweens) vibe that is essential for a great space fighter. A few comments on this area were that some find the Cutlass a bit bland, but its not offensive (I wouldn't know). This may not be perfect to some people, this ships' appearance has the perfect "everyday warrior" (or is that an every-moment?) charm for lots of users and is not just a novelty!
Color Choices & Customization
There's a broad range of paint schemes. This means a range for players who can enjoy customizing it more. For a ship, that's something good to keep in mind. Some players need a unique color (for others to find appealing? some may feel different when it comes to choices), maybe like "my space pirate fighter" feel, you see what I mean?
- Default paintjobs: Good selection!
- Customizable decals: This will open more doors (especially with options for this).
- External mods: Are a nice touch.
Inside the Cutlass: The Cabin Experience

Stepping inside, it has enough space, just enough, (no, not much in the beginning, for lots). You have space for comfort! But it's well laid out, with good lighting, good enough to see everything without having to look for things all the time (that's nice in general.) One of the comments I read: 'the pilot's seat is quite comfortable,' so… a plus for comfort/practicality.
Storage Space & Cargo
- Adequate space to store tools for space.
- Enough room for what you need (maybe!).
Weaponry: A Balanced Approach
It's not like it is overpowered or anything, which can make people frustrated (no). I can safely say that the Cutlass does quite okay against a good fighter in a game. It packs a powerful punch for those who feel that there is nothing to like about what it packs! What can the game (or users) have for this specific choice/design/appearance/quality-type area?
- Primary weapons: Effective and suitable for casual gameplay or intense encounters.
- Secondary weapons: Nice additions to improve efficiency (good job on this area).
Performance & Handling: How Does She Fly?
Source: nocookie.net
The speed? How fast it moves! I think this area was praised quite often. The maneuvering abilities allow for evasive maneuvers or a strategic strike. This ship doesn't have the agility of smaller fighter types, but its well-suited size, (so many advantages?), handles nicely and maneuvers (at a certain level of skill?). Overall, there aren't too many complaints about performance. This suggests that players do not experience performance problems at a normal or medium to advanced skill level.
Ups & Downs in Gameplay
- Fast response.
- Simple enough for pilots with beginner experience.
- The stability gives more opportunities and helps people have more opportunities. This is good.
Comparing to Other Star Citizen Ships: A Fair Showdown
How does the Cutlass stack up against, say, the Avenger? A big difference! I found the Cutlass to be really straightforward. This particular advantage in comparison could turn a certain percentage of people (customers) towards purchasing or deciding on upgrading to this ship. However, it is difficult to make general conclusions from experiences. One reviewer noted the Cutlass "feels more like an actual military vehicle/tool compared to something else."

User Experience & Reviews: A Glimpse into Others' Opinions
Source: imgur.com
- Review 1: "The perfect middle-class fighter. Fast, fun, and not broken in anyway."
- Review 2: "The interiors seem to give off this very solid and serious vibe in a space combat context."
- Review 3: "I do believe it feels slightly sluggish on longer maneuvers, but it’s great otherwise!"
Overall Verdict: Worth the Price?
The Cutlass Black, as a general choice, seems like a great ship for those (like me), seeking balance, great maneuvering ability, and enough firepower for both combat and missions. It’s very suitable (as you might imagine) for beginners in this area of play. Ultimately, its suitability may differ if the player prioritizes extremely detailed armor options, superior maneuverability/handling (in comparison to smaller ships/class), more significant damage options (depending on play style!), or certain specific ship abilities, in which case, it is difficult for certain users. If you don't want all of this extra-stuff/details, but find those specific points appealing, I encourage you to test-drive this Cutlass! For general purpose use, it offers solid value for what the user can receive in-game or other resources.
Summary of the Pros & Cons
Pros
Cons
- Performance for some may fall short in certain gameplay experiences.
- Some players/groups could potentially find better ship design options for specialized missions/roles.
The Final Thoughts: Fly the Cutlass
So, is the Cutlass Black right for you? Ultimately, it depends (you are not limited to any of those limitations/factors) on your needs and desires. But, for me? Well, in this one-man mission/journey or expedition/trial to test my skills, it seems to be quite suitable and quite reliable (to be fair). So many details about it help bring value, if a player (or users?) knows what to look for when navigating this ship! The possibilities? Huge and varied (you decide), from casual fly-around fun to serious battles, and the Cutlass may just be the one! Just go take it for a spin and give it a fly! (or two).
