Star Citizen's Starship Showdown: A Deep Dive into Ship Health Points
"A ship is only as good as its armor!" – (This is something a buddy of mine told me.) A lot of people love space ships. Star Citizen is a game with a big space-ship focus and we are looking into the incredible amount of ships you can find and fly! So we decided to take a deep dive to understand this game's ships. Let’s examine the different ship designs and their unique stats (HP and armor), so you get the idea of who's really taking off in the skies!
Understanding Ship HP: Why Does It Matter?

Ships have an important health component called HP (health points), which are essentially the vessel's stamina. This is important to survival in this game. High HP generally translates to more survival time. Lower HP is an easy way to end the game quickly for you, (and trust me, sometimes that happens in the game, the heat is on!) Also, various types of ship designs have different capabilities. This matters because the designers thought through how a ship can last in combat, or other in-game challenges.
Different Categories of Ships

Star Citizen doesn't just have one type of vessel, just as life is never simply one path. (That's cool!).
-
Fighter: These fast ships, a ship's warrior role, are ideal for fast strikes against the enemies and they’ve got low HP(health points) .
-
Cruiser: They’re like the midfielders or a support ship for a team effort in the space and can hold out a longer time against attackers. They have high HP values.
-
Freighters: Massive ships with important cargoes are great to keep up the fuel for more flying times but they do have high HP(health points)
-
Corvettes: These speedy ship designs have medium HP(health points) to defend the game spaces better. They're good all-arounders (kinda like a great balance)
Factors Influencing Ship HP
Ship HP (health points) depends on a bunch of elements:
-
Armor Thickness: This physical protection dictates your ship's resistance. Heavier armor (thicker is better!), obviously increases the HP rating in the design and that allows a spaceship to stay strong longer and take a beating. Thinner armour just means they are softer targets for attack.
-
Shield Capacity: A shield is like an extra layer of protection. When hit, the shields take the damage instead of going to the health part immediately. So thick shields can be just as essential, if not more essential for ship HP ratings.
-
Material Strength: (Stronger materials make ships tougher to destroy. Stronger ships last longer).

Star Citizen: A Review from A Gamer's Viewpoint
(I started playing a couple weeks ago) The ship customization options are something to admire. My favourite part about playing Star Citizen is seeing different models with the customization options that I'd find if I designed them. You can personalize them to make your own and it makes them cool, almost like you built your very own dream spacecraft! The other point, the quality and attention to detail in building a vessel is admirable. Star Citizen gives the experience of actually designing a spaceship (in the gameplay sense).
(My fellow gamer's comments). One player talked about how the ships have that “look of a spaceship from a great action game”. You can imagine it! (Awesome huh?) It also gets better with time, this one.) They said it was "a pretty cool project.” My other friend even stated how he got immersed into Star Citizen. "It truly feels like building space travel in reality," another player says. Another good aspect is, as you see the new versions released, each of them really bring their design elements and the attention to detail really is on top of its game. Overall, these improvements have all really made me like it. I can definitely tell they take ship customization and the overall gameplay feel seriously.
Some comments say " the price of some customization parts isn't friendly”.
The gameplay feel overall (this includes HP, but not limited to it!), it’s a little clunky when learning new systems but it is all manageable to work out over time! A game mechanic or aspect, that could make some of us upset when encountering it. The sheer scale and scope are pretty much a factor! A great number of ships out there to consider as you want a great ship of choice.
I really want to find the one with an extraordinary aesthetic value to its ship, because my friend says how this type of ship makes an amazing statement (regarding how it looks) on the ship. Another of my friends stated how the game isn't only for one type of player, that the game includes all ship categories from smaller types to massive spacecraft models.
There is nothing bad (no dislikes) about the Star Citizen. Some aspects are too complex, that maybe make people not enjoy some aspects but for people who really take on the Star Citizen and fully appreciate what's to offer in this massive world. Then you will notice what's there that has amazing design values and ship-styling aspects.
My Take on the Overall Ship Design in Star Citizen
(To summarize what I said) Star Citizen’s ship designs are impressive. It’s clear the developers put in a lot of thought, design elements, and love (in terms of development time), (to have different capabilities), making this very well considered for ship users of the game to choose. Ships also vary widely in stats which, honestly makes them much more enjoyable to play. There is variety when picking and choosing the design.
Ultimately, every player will want to play their game with ships that match them. Each player enjoys the game with its ships, even if they want different aspects to be customized (for different design choices of their personal preference, which can change by gamer.) It feels rewarding that there are many models, variety for options of ship, for you to pick from. So it really comes down to preference (in choosing), or which one that players find the best aesthetic choices. And trust me! These designs go so beyond the visual to offer variety and complexity to this already complicated but intriguing experience to a ship enthusiast.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Star Citizen shines by having extensive and complex variety in ship designs with well balanced HP ranges to make for an interesting game to those looking to explore ships to a degree!
