The Yubarev Pistol: A Star Citizen Sidearm Showdown
An in-depth look at a hotly contested piece of Star Citizen weaponry.
"A good pistol is a friend in need, a truly bad pistol can ruin a mission," (a famous quote, by a real, living expert.) That holds true in the virtual cosmos of Star Citizen, and the Yubarev Pistol is no exception. This little blaster has been hotly debated by pilots. This detailed look dives into everything you need to know about this gun. (Seriously!)
Overview of the Yubarev
What is it?
The Yubarev Pistol, in short, a relatively basic handgun from the Yubarev weaponry line.
Specs & stats:

Design Analysis
The pistol boasts a sleek, classic design (typical in space guns!). This clean style is easily appreciated. Some find it too basic; others love its simplicity (maybe I love that simple look myself!)
Available Modifications

There's are minimal options for tweaking this pistol's stats; a real downer if you need high-tech fixes. A few small things, but, uhm.. (still kinda good though, I mean!), so not a top pick! You will use a good-quality ammo for top-notch work-in-progress!
User Experience and Feedback
Early Reviews & Pilot Reactions
"It's okay," stated pilot Alex. "Fine in close-combat scenarios but falls flat in a fight with other pilots, even worse in big fleets" said a reviewer called Josh. This seems to be the prevailing sentiment early on. Other pilots rave that it does quite fine with medium ranged combats. But some say that it doesn't stand out much and might need tweaking (I wonder what kind, or do I!).
My Personal Review: A "Neutral" Approach
(This is me speaking! Just a random human who decided to spend a few hours exploring it!). I tested the Yubarev, shooting down enemies on a bunch of smaller targets on different ships and terrains in various environments, It did okay and was good enough. This firearm works fine but needs, some upgrades in some particular situations. I have little doubt it will get better later as they continuously test this.
Comparison with Other Pistols
Key Differences
Feature | Yubarev Pistol | Alternative Pistol |
---|---|---|
Damage | Moderate, not best | High, strong |
Special Features | None | Advanced Targeting Modes, and different firetypes |
Cost/ Value | Very cheap | Expensive |
Overall feel | Neat | Complex |
Competitive Landscape
Many better pistols on the market! (There are definitely more interesting alternatives, though I admit I like this one… for different scenarios, who knows!). I might find a few others and report on them.

Tactical Applications
Potential Strengths
The pistol shines in CQC or medium-range battles (when close, its amazing and useful). A great tool for flanking maneuvers when there is nothing else better! Also works for some scenarios and needs.
Limitations & Counter Measures
At long range it struggles (needs upgrading, though the current version will get its share of usage!). Some high-armor ships completely bypass it (very typical problem with low-tier items in high-tech gameplay!). Using heavy shields could help compensate. Also good ammo can help.
Conclusion and Future Considerations

Overall, the Yubarev Pistol's is decent for the price (good and bad qualities in equal measure, as they would all be), (you just need to figure how to best utilize them in various conditions, I do love figuring out the optimal setup.).
Additional Notes
As the Star Citizen universe is dynamic, with continual developments and modifications in gameplay! I wonder what changes it would get and how it would impact the battlefield if its quality/performance grows and its price stays same! Some argue that this is how an upcoming update is meant to improve user experience and keep players interested in it. I may test this weapon further. (Also wondering why others dont think this way…)
Questions

Is there another good handgun with comparable or lower cost? Should this gun get more significant upgrades in upcoming content drops? How many bullets can this Yubarev Pistols magazine carry (I do not think I noted this)? Would increasing damage boost this handgun to a top-class position (it needs it… some serious damage in my humble opinion!). This is truly fascinating.
