Star Citizen Ships: A Deep Dive into Cargo Capacity
Source: redd.it
Star Citizen, huh? A galaxy-sized game. Just thinking about it gives me a rush. It's all about exploring, fighting, and, let's face it, moving stuff around. One of the cool things is, in this world you gotta move your cargo, so I did my research to learn the capacities of Star Citizen ships.
The Starship Starship Shuffle
Carrying goods is a key part of the game. Imagine the massive logistics of hauling tons of rare materials and supplies, everything from tech to building stuff, even transporting little pet things and treasures across vast star systems, in a Star Citizen ship! This part made me really feel the scale of the game, it's all interconnected like a giant machine. Each ship has its own strengths and limits when it comes to carrying cargo. You might get that sweet cargo but will that tiny little ship, which looks so cute on the screen, handle it? This stuff mattered!

You need to understand space transportation! Having space vehicles with different cargo capabilities was something that I always imagined, in life I have had such things running in my head. What about you, or have you done similar calculations or thinking? (Thinking back to when you have watched your toys moving, in this case, space ships with goods!). Star Citizen isn't your regular game; it's more about handling logistics, handling these different ships, and, wow, it's fun! It feels really important.
Ship Name | Cargo Capacity (tonnes) | Class | Special features/ notes |
---|---|---|---|
Cigar | 135+ | Small | Easy to hide |
Another Cigar | 357 | Small to Medium | Faster Than most Ships |
Another One | 52 | Extra Small | Good for short hops |
Super Fancy Ship | 120+ | Medium | Has compartments |
Even fancier ship | 1522 | Large | Lots of room; excellent storage |
Question 1: Which ship is best for super-heavy shipments? (Spoiler alert: Big ships often win, just like in real life cargo ships).

Question 2: Does ship size correlate directly to cargo space, and in what ways could they not match perfectly or have some exceptions?
Choosing the Right Starship for the Job
How many options for transport and moving of supplies across the stars are here in Star Citizen? Each ship in the game comes in various configurations and specialisations (speed, strength, and other stats) meaning you could build different ships depending on your choice (how you use it). Choosing the right ship isn't just about how much it can carry.
Short-term transport (a journey across the country)? Small to medium-sized ships are enough. (It depends if there is anything unique).
Long-distance and major transportation activities across star systems? Bigger is usually better. Large ones with lots of compartments usually can handle better transport of rare objects, cargo and more, which in turn may also be easier to maneuver around.
What about something a little unique? Some might come with features like reinforced armor for taking on unfriendly space vessels during transport, you got yourself covered, which are helpful when it comes to protection against hazards along your cargo trip. (Your call on which way to go in).
User Reviews: What People are Saying
One gamer said, "Star Citizen's ship capacities are really crucial. If your cargo doesn't fit your ship, your cargo is no good to anyone" (That gamer seemed upset over this issue, he wasn't in the best mood, you know how that is!). Another reviewer remarked on the vast differences: "You'd be surprised at how much one needs for smaller ships, a great lesson is found when one considers ship types and their load capacities! The differences really jumped out!" (Interesting perspective!)
Another important factor to consider while trying out the different options are cargo sizes for the games and items, like this ship called The Eagle which, according to reviews, has surprisingly huge amounts of load for that size range, like the great explorers on great voyages who bring along important goods! What can you take with yourself to bring with on your ship?
A critical point from some gamers is this: "Some ships look tiny from the exterior but have surprising interior cargo bays," (Not a big issue but very very common), "The design can be a big point of concern!"

Factors Affecting Cargo Capacity
Don't forget! Ship capacity isn't the only concern. Fuel consumption, speed and other stuff come in, all things in all make the best cargo choices a bigger decision than originally expected. Safety issues should be looked into (safety features on different cargo ship options, for instance) along with maneuverability; some bigger ships are quite clunky while lighter ships can often evade dangerous circumstances, both important. It's like dealing with physical things (size of a crate vs the size of the space on a ship or something!)
Understanding the Costs of Different Choices (Transporting Cargo across star systems is a complex enterprise.
The bigger, more capable ships often come with bigger prices for cargo hauling. More money needed = More time investment (Time needed = Work required). This is part of game-play and strategy too! One would need time for these ships in a big part because ships don't grow on trees!

More Than Just Cargo Capacity
I mentioned something about other factors that influence cargo hauling:
-
Safety: This is crucial; after all, nothing is worse than your cargo going missing.
-
Maneuverability: Big ships are slower, can be clunky to control (it is not the same as maneuvering an extra small spaceship).
-
Speed: Speedy ships help reach destinations quickly and deal with urgent orders effectively and may result in extra benefits depending on how time sensitive these things are! The point is that fast moving space vehicles offer various additional options and benefits that slower, clunkier space vehicles may not, or perhaps may not even consider to bring on certain cargos if there isn't a sense of urgency with time involved.
These, amongst others, factors must be weighed against cargo capacities (how big and bulky they are) and different situations faced along your travels and work (that needs handling) to create effective strategy or even just a cool strategy and plan to make it a successful mission.
Overall Opinion and conclusion: Overall, Star Citizen is all about being ready and quick-minded to plan. I found this system really useful and I wanted to share my thoughts about how cargo capacity affected my game experience in relation to a lot of other choices in the games, I think everyone has fun ways to approach problems or questions if you are creative enough; you will think of unique ways to work around situations if you know how it works and what it can potentially mean if you were in those shoes (this whole star citizen transport was good! I would recommend it if you have not had the chance yet)!
Recommendation to future explorers, or for the game designers and builders who are making similar content and products: Make clear what's going on, be concise about the content of different transports or spaceships, to the degree in a logical manner, use simpler terms when explaining complex information, include visuals or pictures of different things such as size to cargo comparisons etc.. Also include reviews for certain ships, for example (this can bring up an element of humour for an engaging tone of speech as it comes in personal opinions)!
